About the Author

Barbara Dickson’s first official writing credit came in the form of a poem published in her high school yearbook. Barbara developed a love of writing during her high school years and attributes part of her passion for writing to her Grade Ten English teacher, Ms. Tomlinson. Devouring Nancy Drew novels as a young teenager infused her love for suspense.

Barbara started her career in the IT industry, working eleven years as a software analyst for an international IT company. Her logic and math skills, along with her creativity, helped her design and develop software applications for the mid-range computer market.

After the birth of her third child, Barbara retired and re-discovered her love of writing. She began writing magazine articles as an outlet for her creativity. With nearly 50 articles to her credit, and always looking for a new challenge, she has completed three inspirational novels.

Barbara’s magazine articles have appeared around the world, as far away as South Africa. One of her short stories, Edward’s Rocks, appears in a high school English textbook, Inside Stories II. She humbly shares the pages with authors such as Isaac Asimov and Margaret Laurence.

A city girl, Barbara was born and raised in Toronto and continues to reside there, with her husband and five daughters. When she finds time, she enjoys researching her family tree, watching old black and white movies, and camping and canoeing in the Great White North (minus the snow of course).

Barbara’s wish for her readers is that they will find warmth, inspiration, laughter, and hope in the pages of her stories. She’s not writing to change the world, but to touch one heart at a time.
