The Naked Earth Wins 2008 Book of the Year (Fiction) Award

The Online Review of Books and Current Affairs has awarded "The Naked Earth" by Jonathan Adam DeCoteau the 2008 Book of the Year Award in the Fiction category.

Oshawa, Ontario (MMPUBS.COM) 5 January 2009 –  The Online Review of Books and Current Affairs is a publication dedicated to reviewing books from independent and small publishers.  This publication has selected one of Crystal Dreams Publishing's new books as its 2008 Book of the Year in the Fiction category.

The winning book is The Naked Earth by Jonathan Adam DeCoteau.  The book, published in September 2008, tells the story of Evan "Sindbad" Al-Mohummad, a man who specializes in photographing dead bodies for the military in the current Iraq war. Investigating a bizarre double homicide in Basra, he discovers, piece by piece, that the murder is the beginning of a genocide Western governments did nothing to stop. Vowing revenge, Sindbad commits a crime against his fellow man so brutal that it costs him his humanity. Back in America, he must live with his conscience until he goes on a quest of self-discovery and redemption that will forever change the naked earth of Iraq.

John F. Miglio, the publisher of The Online Review of Books and Current Affairs called the book "exciting and insightful" when he named it the 2008 Book of the Year.  The Online Review listed the book as a "recommended read" in August 2008, and then again in each subsequent month of 2008, beating out many other deserving titles.

Alba Aguanno, president of Multi-Media Publications Inc., the publisher whose Crystal Dreams Publishing imprint released the award-winning book, stated that she is "thrilled that this book has won a second award."  (The book also won the 2007 Indie Excellence Award.)  "We hope that this award shines a light on the quality of writing in this hidden gem," she said.
